Iguanas in San Juan and Florida

Today I am going to tell you about iguanas because in Puerto Rico and Florida there were loads of iguanas.

The first thing I am going to tell you about is where iguanas live. In the rainforest, iguanas live high up in treetops to protect themselves from low down predators like crocodiles and people. They also live in North and Central America because of the warm climate. Finally, they mostly live in South America because of the warm and rainy climate!

Next, I am going to tell you about what iguanas eat. Iguanas are mostly herbivores. Herbivores mostly crunch on plants and fruit. Iguanas also eat eggs and bugs but it is not good for them!

Finally, I am going to tell you about how iguana protect themselves. First of all, if an iguana is sprinting away from a predator and sees a lake, he will jump into it because of his waterproof skin. Now, this may shock a lot of you but iguanas have a third eye on top of their head to help them know if there is a predator attacking them from above or not. There is one more thing that iguanas use to protect themselves. If you do not know what camouflage is, it is where the animal blends into its surroundings. Iguanas can change the colour of their skin to blend in!

I hope you liked all the information I gave you about what iguanas eat, where they live and how they protect themselves.
