Welcome to New Zealand! Here we have sheep, kiwi birds, and Hobbiton. This week I am going to tell you all about our adventures discovering Hamilton, New Zealand.
First, I am going to tell you about Rainbow Springs. At Rainbow Springs, there were kiwis and a boat ride. Remember what I said about the kiwis? I meant the bird, not the fruit. Did you know that the kiwi bird is one of the rarest birds in New Zealand? Splish! Splash! The ride I was taking was a boat ride like Splash Mountain but instead, we were supposed to find the cardboard cutouts of birds. After that, we went on a tour to see all of the birds. That was so cool because we saw so many birds that we may not get to see in the wild.
Another thing that we did was go on a two-hour hike over slick and slimy rocks in the blistering heat. We hiked to a place called Wairere Falls. It is a one hour drive from Hamilton. Don’t get me wrong. I love hikes but not for two hours to see a waterfall. It was so tiring and I knew we would have to go back down. About the rocks, they were very slippery. Sometimes they were serrated and sharp. There were no stairs, just rocks and dirt. The waterfall was worth it though. It was so pretty and wondrous as the sun lit the waterfall up in dazzling colours. Then we remembered…. we had to go back down again!
Last, but not least, I went on a Hobbiton tour. Did you know that the New Zealand army helped make Hobbiton? The director gave the New Zealand army a role in The Lord Of The Rings and what is a better role for the New Zealand army then the Ork army. If you are going to New Zealand or live in New Zealand, Hobbiton is the place to go because you can get to see Bilbo’s house. From the top of the hill, there is a great view of Hobbiton. The tour took you around the party tree and the hobbit holes. Did you know that the tree on Bilbo’s house is fake? After the tour, you went to the Green Dragon Inn where you could order a glass of ale or ginger ale while you looked at the detailed walls. Everything in the Green Dragon Inn looked like it sounded in the book.
I hoped you enjoyed my writing about our adventures in Rainbow Springs, enjoying the waterfall and having a good time in Hobbiton. We had a lot of fun discovering Hamilton! Now we are off to Napier! See you there!
